Serial numbers not matching message
The "Serial numbers not matching" message appears if the remote control unit (RCU) has ever been exchanged between two units. However, this message is only informative and it has no physical consequences.
To find out which are the real numbers, you can first erase the memory. Press and hold the ESC button and then turn ON the main power switch (on the front panel) while still holding the ESC button. The erasing procedure should complete in about 5s.
After that, with the RCU only powered, read the numbers in the HELP sub-menu, immediately after a memory erase, and before powering the main unit for the first time. Both numbers should be equal each other at this moment. This is the genuine RCU serial number.
Principally, the RCU and the main units are produced in pairs, so the numbers should coincide with the serial number of the amplifier as printed on its rear panel.
After a first power ON of the main unit, the serial numbers of the amplifier and its tubes are transferred to the RCU flash memory. Only the RCU serial number is preserved. These numbers will be shown in the HELP sub-menu always after that (until you erase the memory again).
If the RCU and the amplifier have been produced in a pair, their serial numbers should coincide again, also after having turned ON the main unit once or more times.
Although the numbers might differ, the warning message would be suppressed and it should not appear after having erased the memory.
Please note that this procedure will erase all user settings in memory ! You will have to tune all antennas on each segment on all bands after doing this. As somebody stated in another mail, Acom 2000 A must be TOLD to autotune,- or it will use def settings based on 1:1 match on the operating frequency. Follow the autotune procedure in the manual and do it on a regular basis !
